The Interview

We are collecting contact information in the survey for those interested in doing a follow-up in-depth interview. If you are interested in doing an interview without doing the survey or after completion, please send an email to readingmentors@ugent.be.

When you sign up through the survey or via email,
you will receive more information on the interviews via email.
Expressing interest now does not mean you have to participate.

Quick Overview

Interviews can be held online (via Microsoft Teams) or in person and will take up to one hour.

The interview will be a semi-structured and relaxed conversation about one of the study's series (The Hunger Games, The Great Library, The Testing, or Shadow and Bone).

I will have an interview guide with questions I would like to ask, but I am mostly very interested in what you have to say about the books and the teen and adult characters and their relationships. If you would like to receive the interview guide beforehand, that's totally fine. You can indicate this on the Microsoft Office availability-form.

The interview will be audio-recorded. We record the interview so we can transcribe your answers and the questions accurately. We only use pseudonyms and audio files are stored securely and kept only as long as needed.

Information Email

After you have expressed your interest, we will send you an email with:

• the Information Letter for the Interviews,
• a copy of the Participant's Consent form,
• where applicable, the Information Letter and Consent Form for parents and/or guardians.
• a short Microsoft Office form asking about your availability.

You can indicate your preferred dates, times, format, and whether you would like the Interview Guide beforehand in that last form.

With all of this information, you can decide whether you want to participate in the interview or not.
